Network Marketing and Credit Repair

In order to absorb what I’m going to share you have to put aside any pre-conceived opinions you have about network marketing or the MLM industry. Just for a few minutes. I am well aware of all the arguments against the industry and I’m not going to debate them. I’ll just tell you that regardless of the perceived downsides of the industry, network marketing is the best business model for credit repair. And, I’ll tell you why.

Let me first address the challenges that the credit repair business presents. They fall into 3 major categories. Federal and state regulations, the scope of providing service to customers, and competition from large companies.

Federal and State Regulations

The Credit Restoration Organizations Act (CROA) restrict you from charging fees to a client before service is provided unless you are a bank, credit union, attorney or 501(c)3 non-profit organization. They do allow you to charge a nominal account activation or set up fee. How this affects you depends on how much profit you want to make in the business. There will be more on this later when I discuss competition in the industry.

State regulations (in most states) require you to purchase a surety bond. If you want to do business outside your state, you must purchase a surety bond in other states as well. These bonds are a continuous expense not a one-time fee.

In addition, the federal government and each state has its own truth in advertising laws that you must be aware of and comply with. Failure to comply with these advertising laws could result in very stiff penalties. States like Georgia and Utah have recently severely cracked down on credit repair companies advertising in those states.

Providing Service to Clients

Next, and maybe most importantly, has to do with the scope of providing service to a client. I realize that companies that sell dispute software like TurboDispute, DisputeSuite and CreditRepair Cloud make it sound like it takes no time at all to pull credit, analyze credit reports and draft dispute letters. First of all, it takes more time than they tell you. But that’s not the full extent of the work in the credit repair business. It’s not even close. You need to market and find prospective clients. Then you need to sell to those clients. People don’t typically click a link and sign themselves up for credit repair. This isn’t like buying a product from Amazon. Then you need to deal with disputes. Then you need to provide customer service and support once the service is under way.

I can’t begin to tell you the number of people that have tried to do this on their own that have called me. They have given up on trying to bring in enough clients to pay the bills and provide service to that number of clients.

Can You Compete Against the Big Companies?

Then there is the issue of competition from large companies that dominate the industry. Companies like Lexington Law, CreditRepair.com, and Sky Blue Credit Repair. They dominate internet advertising in every market in the country. They have the money to outbid you for position on Google.

But that isn’t the biggest challenge you have when competing against big companies in the credit repair industry. The biggest challenge is providing the type and scope of service that companies likes ours can provide at a price that is perhaps less than, or similar, to what you can afford to charge. You might be able to provide credit repair (removal of negative items from credit reports) for let’s say $80 a month. We provide that along with 11 other financial services for $89 a month. And, we do it with an A+ BBB rating and accreditation, and a NACSO certification. That’s hard to compete with.

Why Network Marketing and Credit Repair Works

Now that I’ve discussed the challenges in the credit repair business let me share with you why network marketing is the best business model for credit repair. In a nutshell it’s because our business model overcomes every single challenge I’ve described above. We have the resources, the technology, and the infrastructure in place. All you need to do is plug into it and you’re in business tomorrow.

We overcome state and federal regulations because our credit repair company is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Therefore, we are as stated above, exempt from CROA regulations. As an independent Agent for our company you can charge up-front fees (the up-front fee we charge is nominal, just $99) and you can do business in all 50 states without purchasing a surety bond.

You still need to follow truth in advertising laws, but our company provides you with information on compliance with those laws. And, we make available to you legally approved brochures, flyers, folders, business cards, social media templates, phone apps, and an online sales funnel system. All of it complies with the laws in all 50 states and is available to you from day one.

Have Time to Bring in More Business

Now let’s address providing services. With our business model you don’t provide services. Our staff does that for you. Not only are they trained at a high level to provide client services, they also provide customer support for the length of time the client is on service. This allows you to find more people to sell services to. It frees up your valuable time so you can maintain another business or work the credit repair business part-time until you can make it a full-time business.

Now let’s talk about competition. By working with us as an independent Agent you will be providing more services than any other company in the industry for the same price or less than the big companies provide credit repair. This allows you to compete with the small company in your area and the largest companies in the country.

Use Leverage to Build Your Business

But this is the biggest reason why network marketing is the best business model for credit repair. It’s because the profit margins in credit repair are small. You can’t charge much more than $100 a month and compete. So, given everything I’ve shared above how many people do you think you can bring in on your own and provide service? How much will those clients be paying you to do all of this? What if you want to take some time off or you get sick? Who’s going to run your business and what’s your profits going to look like?

With our network marketing and credit repair business model, you can build a team of other independent Agents and get paid on their production. You can build it as small or as large as you want. In fact, you don’t have to bring in any Agents or build a team at all. But if you do that’s where the true substantial incomes in this industry are anymore.

Build True Residual Income

People come into the credit repair business because they think there’s residual income. There’s only temporary residual income until your client stops paying. No client is going to pay for credit repair any longer than they need to, and sometimes they stop paying before they should.

When building a team of Agents, you build a true residual income. Because when you stop working for any reason your Agents do not.  It does take time to build that residual. It doesn’t come over night. But once you’ve built it, it comes each and every month. I had to take a couple of months off in 2017 for a major surgery. I also slowed down in 2018 to fully recover. But my checks didn’t because my team didn’t.

Network marketing has its flaws. No doubt. But for the credit repair business it provides the solution to so many challenges in this industry. You don’t have to put out a huge expense to get into the business. And, you can get started today for as little as $288.00.

The Perfect Business

When looking for a home-based business opportunity it makes sense to look for a company that has already built a strong business infrastructure. Then an individual can plug into that infrastructure to have everything they need to run a successful business from the start. That includes all kinds of tools and systems from marketing to merchant services to adherence to federal and state laws. In this case I’m going to discuss an opportunity that combines the large and ever-expanding market of credit repair and network marketing.

Yes, Network Marketing!

If you just rolled your eyes or had the hair on the back of your neck stand up, read on for a bit. Let me address a common criticism about the network marketing industry. That is that most people that try network marketing fail. That’s true. But that’s also true about any independent opportunity that involves sales. The vast majority of people are poor at sales. Yet believe that they’ll be successful in an opportunity that requires selling and people skills.

There is a common theme one needs to keep in mind when judging the network marketing industry. No matter the company, there are people in that company that are doing very well. Therefore, it’s not the industry that prevents people from having success, nor perhaps even the company. In most cases (not all) it is a lack of skill and/or effort on the part of the individual.

OK that is out of the way and you’re still reading. That means you appreciate the benefits of network marketing in relation to building a business. And, you believe that you have some people and sales skills. Perfect!

The Opportunity

I have been part of a company since 2012 that has a very strong credit repair service with an A+ BBB rating. They have also addressed specific challenges within the credit repair industry such as federal and state laws. And, they have a well-trained staff that does all the credit repair service delivery for the distributors (we call them Agents) in the field. This gives the Agent the ability to work this business on a part-time basis. Or, if they work it full time, it gives them more time to go out and find more clients. And, build a team of other Agents (the network marketing piece).

A big benefit to this opportunity that combines credit repair and network marketing is that Agents do not have to do the network marketing side of the business. They can simply sell the services and get paid $100 per transaction plus monthly residual income for as long as the client stays on service. This makes it a great opportunity for people in credit-related industries such as real estate, mortgage, and solar (and other industries). They can simply utilize the credit repair service to increase their primary business.

Building a Team

However, the compensation plan gets very lucrative if someone does want to build a team of Agents around the country. They too get paid on each client transaction but also earn bonuses and overrides on their team. Personally, I do both sides of the business and earn a six-figure income from home. The company also pays for the car that sits in my garage.

Something else that is important to mention is that this opportunity brings together two large markets. The huge and ever-expanding credit repair market. And, the market of people that need a 2nd income that doesn’t take up a lot of their time. Most people know others that have challenges with their credit. And/or they know people in real estate or the mortgage business they could help by turning their credit challenged clients into qualified buyers.

Credit Repair First

This company is a credit repair company first and a network marketing company second. If you have experience in the network marketing industry, you’ll appreciate the difference. Most companies in the network marketing industry could plug in any product to their program. This company however, is built around the concept of being the best credit repair company in the country and competes very well against companies that have a traditional business model. This makes the opportunity even more lucrative because an Agent can go to a real estate company, mortgage company or bank and compete for their referrals of credit challenged clients.

Credit Repair MLM

I’m going to introduce you to a business model that combines a home-based credit repair business opportunity with an MLM pay structure. It’s a brilliant business model for those that want a part-time or even full time home based business. When the company started in 2004 they had more of a traditional business model. They had independent sales people that earned straight commissions and could not build a team. About 10 years ago they switched to a credit repair MLM model. Since then they have exploded in growth.

If your reading this then one could assume that you look favorably on MLM or network marketing opportunities. For those that do not it may be because they perceive there to be a high failure rate among those that try MLM businesses. Let’s explore that for a bit.

MLM or Network Marketing vs. Traditional Small Business

According to Forbes.com 20% of traditional small business start ups fail in the first year. And, 50% fail in 5 years. Compare that with research on people that start an MLM business. 50% fail in their 1st year and 90% fail over 5 years. So, the failure rate is higher in a typical MLM opportunity than a traditional small business.

Most would look at the statistics just mentioned and stay away from MLM because 90% fail in 5 years. Others would look at the stats and jump in because they see that 10% succeed! What people don’t realize is that the 90/10 rule applies to most opportunities that aren’t a W-2 job where you get a salary. In opportunities where people must generate their income, 90% will fail. But that does not scare away those of use that believe enough in ourselves to become one of the 10%.

The primary reason why the failure rate is higher in MLM is because that the upfront investment is so low. There’s less ‘skin in the game’. This makes it much easier to walk away instead of fighting to make it work. Because of the low start up cost people don’t research the business before they start. People don’t treat it like a business. For some reason people that start a network marketing business treat it with less care than if they had made a bigger investment or commitment.

A Credit Repair MLM – Smaller Investment, Lower Risk

A credit repair MLM is a brilliant business model because it reduces the high cost of starting a credit repair business. Therefore it also reduces the risk. In addition, there is a huge market of consumers in need of credit repair. Beyond that there is a growing number of people looking for a second income.

Consider These Facts about the Market for a Credit Repair MLM

Approximately 35% of the U.S. adult population have a credit score below 620. This is considered sub-prime and will not get most qualified for a mortgage. That means that about 86 million people in this country at some point are going to need help with their credit.

44 million people in the U.S. have a second income or side hustle. It’s becoming more apparent that many Americans are having a difficult time meeting monthly expenses on one income alone.

Given these numbers there is a big opportunity to provide helpful services and to build a large team of people offering the services.

Why a Credit Repair MLM is Inherently Different Than a Typical MLM

Because credit repair is a financial service people perceive a person offering credit repair to be more like a traditional business person. The customer doesn’t need to be explained how an MLM works because they are not participating in the business at all. They are simply a customer of the service. It’s not that anyone is hiding anything it’s just that the business model is irrelevant to the customer. And, the business model has no bearing on the quality and performance of the service. In fact, because the main company provides the service and not the person in the field, the quality of the service is higher and more consistent.

Finding customers is a relatively simply process. You can and should let people that you know you’re in the credit repair business. They may need your service or know someone that does. Or, they may be looking for a second income. But the best place to find customers is to talk with those that see people with low credit scores daily. People that work in real estate, mortgage, automobile, solar and banking are great people to talk with. They benefit greatly be referring their credit challenged prospects to you. And again, there’s no need to explain the business model. You’re not trying to get people into the business. You’re just trying to help their credit challenged prospective clients.

And, yes there are millions in this country looking for that second income stream. Most desire to earn between $500 and $1,000 a month. They are not necessarily wanting to earn six figures. That means that if they simply find a few customers every month they will achieve their income goal and stay with the business long term. They may even decide to invest more time and effort into it. For those that want to earn significantly more, simply go find a lot of customers and people that want to earn $500 a month.

People don’t have to recruit. If they just want to earn that $500 to $1,000 a month they can do that from selling the services alone. They do not have to recruit anyone into their business. But note that if someone wants to earn a significant income or turn it into a full-time career, building a team is essential.
