What You Need to Know and Questions You Need to Ask
Before You Start a Credit Repair Home Based Business
A credit repair home based business is a great choice if you want to develop a second income stream or a new career. However, there is a lot to research and understand before setting up your new business. I have worked from home in credit repair since 2012. My credit repair home business has grown each year. On average it generates nearly $1 million in sales revenue annually.
People call me nearly every day to ask how I did it. I have spoken to over 2,o00 people since 2012 on this topic. This blog post will share the common challenges and issues people ask about and many of which that they don’t.
Being a Soloprenuer
What is a solopreneur? A soloprenuer is someone in business for themselves and also by themselves. They have to do everything, wear every hat. What does that mean in a credit repair home based business? It means that you have to be good at a lot of things. Maintaining a website and other technology. Delivering credit repair services to clients. Marketing for new clients. Selling to your prospects. Providing customer service to your clients, and much more. And, you have to have the time to do it all.
Website & other technology- being in business today means you must have a website. Not only that but it must be a great website with a professional look and populated with great information about credit. But it goes beyond just having a marketing website. To compete in this industry you’ll need to provide clients with online access to their progress and results of the service you are providing them.
If you’ve done any research you’ll see advertisements for software that will generate dispute letters for you. Some are probably much better than others so you have to find the right one. But beyond that how are you going to know what derogatory items a client has? Are you going to make the client provide you with credit reports? Can you get credit reports? And, most importantly are you aware of the time it takes to process a clients service from start to finish? Have you calculated you’re per hour rate? Is that rate worth the investment you made to start your business?
Where are going to find your clients? Not just your first few clients that you already know but a steady stream of clients? Are you good at marketing? Can you develop flyers, brochures, business cards? Are you a good writer? Can you advertise on social media? Do you have the time for all this?
Can you sell? Are you a good communicator on the phone and in person? Is your credit repair service going to stand up against all the competitors out there? Is your schedule flexible enough to return phone call or other inquiries soon enough?
Will you have the time and be available to take calls from customers that want to know the status of their account and the progress you’ve made. What will be your policy for dissatisfied clients whose results weren’t what they expected?
Have you read the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) and understand the rules about charging up-front fees? If you can’t charge up-front fees can you wait to get paid?
What are the laws in your state? Is a surety bond required? Do you have to register with the state Attorney General? Do you need to also look into neighboring states so you can do business outside your own state?
Who will be your major competitors? What do they charge? How is your service going to be different? Why should people enroll in your service versus theirs?
